Mindfulness – master your wellbeing

We are living in a world where a lot of uncertainty has arisen due to COVID19. Many people are faced with unusually high levels of trauma, adjusting to working from home, homeschooling, unpredictable lockdown levels due to high infection rates, sudden loss of income, stress and mental wellness challenges. It is now more important than ever to ensure we are constantly aware of our mental and emotional state.

WSDP’s Mindfulness sessions will encourage candidates to take a moment to be present and enjoy where they are in their lives, emotionally, physically and mentally. One positive outcome of COVID19 has been increased connections with our surroundings, our emotions and general wellbeing. It has forced the world to slow down but at the same time experience increased pressures from having to adapt to this new way of living and working. We offer a wide variety of mindfulness activities, both online, face to face and outdoors. These include the following:

  1. Desk Work: Improving posture, relaxing the back, daily joint maintenance, desk therapy etc.
  2. Body movement – Release tension, increase general fitness and flexibility, aid in stress relief, posture assistance, increase circulation, connecting mind, body and breath with the movement.
  3. Breathwork exercises to calm the nervous system. Stimulates the brain chemicals against depression, decreases anxiety, supports relaxation, increase in awareness, assists with the development of natural breathing at all times – becoming an auto response.
  4. Meditation – take a moment to be still and let your thoughts settle, clearer thinking and not acting on impulse, responding instead of reacting
  5. Mindfulness/ Guided Relaxation – Support the parasympathetic nervous system, promotes clarity of mind, mental awareness and ability to be present, assists with stability and focus, development of the neutral mind and frontal lobe which controls the personality.
  6. Healthy eating tips – Increase in general well-being, education.
  7. Outdoor events: Yoga in the park, Meditation, Mindful hikes and walks (2-4 hours, which include healthy snacks), reconnecting with nature
